The first thing to try, even though you've only just set this up, is to re-copy gw.exe from your primary Guild Wars folder to your secondary. That fixes the problem 90% of the time.
Note: the .exe, not the .dat

for some reason, there is no .exe in there for me.
there is a .dat, a TMP file, the game client, and that is it.
any suggestions as to how to get a .exe on there lol
Thanks

The game client is the .exe, the .exe might just be hidden on your computer.
So the .exe is the one with the guild wars logo.

Most likely reason is a typo - double check, remembering exact duplication of a path is necessary - that's spelling, spaces, punctuation, the works.

Anyone else with Vista and video cards running in SLI having problems running GWx2 in windowed mode? I prefer not to run in Full Screen so that i can tab between GW, Vent and Firefox fairly quickly if i need to. Also i can run a single GW in windowed mode. Anyway it would be better for me to just turn off SLI and do it that way? I did turn off SLI and it works fine, but i prefer to have SLI turned on at most times as i bounce between more Graphically intensive games and GW most of the day.
BTW the specs on my comp are
i7 920
6 gb G-Skill Ram 1033
EVGA x58 Mobo
2xGTX 260's
Corsair 850w PSU.

I've downloaded and followed all of this and it's working perfectly. Although just for reassurance I'd like to know that it's 100% legal in terms of what ANet's view is on this - they won't ban anyone for it or have done so, have they? Surely it must be OK since for example even if you use it for farming it would be the same as having another person with you anyway, it couldn't be used maliciously in the context of its basic purpose, could it?

Sadly, after reading this whole thread and trying everything mentioned, I just can't get GWx2 to work on my rig. I'm running a Dell XPS600 desktop with Intel Extreme 955 CPU, 4Gb RAM, 1Tb Disk in Raid 0, Creative XFi Extreme Music audio, Logitech g15 keyboard, g5 mouse, and nVidia 9800GTX+ video. OS is Vista 32-bit Ultimate SP1.
What happens is, when I start GWx2, both client windows come up, but then the secondary window freezes solid. Once, the secondary window worked for a couple of seconds before it froze with not even enough time to login. The primary client window stays responsive, but after I close it and task manager kill the secondary window, I can't restart the primary client without a reboot. The error message I get from the primary client is, at the very beginning, where it tries to connect to ANet servers is: Unable to access archive file". I also noticed that after the freezes and after I supposedly shut down eveything, in the processes screen in task mgr. GW.EXE is still listed as a running process, and I can't kill it from task mgr.. Apparently the reboot kills the process and after a reboot, I can run my primary GW client fine.
Any more ideas. I'd really love to get this working, but I'm sorta out of options ATM.
Thanks

is it possible to run 2 copies of gwx2 resulting in 4 clients? saw a previous post about it but no real answer...any tweaks to get it to work that way? or if i wanted to run 4, say 5 even, clients would i have to do it the old fashioned hex editor way?

You can alsways use Mattys GW Multiloader. Therers a link further back in this thread to his Homepage and to the download. Ive run all 3 of my GW accounts at the same time without any problem.
The person who made the program also stated that there is no limit to the number of accounts you can run simultaneously as long as your PC is up to the task.

Change in ArenaNet's policy?
Just a heads up:
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/User_talk:Gaile_Gray#Gaile.2C_might_I_ask_somethin g
It seems accounts are now being banned for using GWx2 and similar multiloaders. So people might want to be careful.
<s>I have unstickied this thread until it can be determined what ArenaNet's policy is on using this program. Guru is not going to advocate the use of something that ArenaNet has determined a violation.</s>
After further clarification from ArenaNet, I have restickied this.

I realize the response from Gaile came AFTER I posted here. As I said, it was just something I wanted everyone to be aware of.

Its always a good thing to re-apply stickytape to posters every now and then. Stops them slipping too far down. Apart from that. Thanks for the heads up and for keeping updated in these subjects.

You use GWx2 at your own risk. If you're banned, then you're banned.
Also, as you may have noticed in the original post, the link to the site that created GWx2 has been removed. The site also hosts a bot. As I'm sure you're all aware, botting is illegal in Guild Wars.
So as not to lose the resource that is GWx2, Snograt was good enough to rehost the exe on FileFront for us. Link: http://files.filefront.com/GWx2+41ex.../fileinfo.html
Please use this link in the future.
Thank you.
